It's So Early Dark Again

in my "neck of the woods." This phrase reminds me of one of our fellow Mylotters whom I have not seen him for a long time. I can't remember his name.
It was only 13 degrees Celcius today, foggy and well, no sign of the sun. A depressing day but I got over it. I can't control the weather and so I just make the best of it.
It was already dark before 6 in the evening. We usually take our dinner at this hour of the day. I was making Chicken Sinigang, a Filipino soup which is a bit sour because of the tamarind spice in it. This is one of my comfort food when I feel cold. Gladfully, my hubby loves it, too.
I added Wirsing, a kind of cabbage here in Germany, to this soup. My friend gave me half of her cabbage yesterday when I was with her as that cabbage was so huge. Bigger than my head.
. Anyway, the soup was delicious eaten it with boiled rice.

You must have a good stomach for so much cabbage.
I know Wirsing from the north of Germany. A traditional food in the winter months is 'Kohl mit Pinkel'. Don't be shocked. Pinkel is a special kind of sausage which is eaten with the Wirsing and potatoes

Yes, I think I have @MALUSE. The soup is a bit sour because of the tamarind fruit spice inside and so it does good to my stomach. I love 'Kohl mit Pinkel'. I make this traditional German food sometimes. I am glad I still have the half of the cabbage left. I can make this Kohl mit Pinkel in a few days. Yummy

@thelme55 Mich laust der Affe! So you know Kohl mit Pinkel? I thought it belonged more to the north of Germany. I used to live between Bremen and Bremerhaven.
My birthday is in January. It's said that Grünkohl is best when it had one frosty night. This is the case in January. I always wanted to eat this dish on my birthday!
Since I moved away from the north (I now live between Stuttgart and Ulm) I've never eaten it again.

Yes, I know it. We are also eating this meal in NRW. I learned to make it from my German mother-in-law before.
Grünkohl is one of my favorite food in winter. I love to make this meal with fresh Grünkohl in winter but in summer, when I craved for it. I bought frozen Grünkohl.

I can no longer cook. My husband cooks once and a while from my recipes. I hate that it gets dark so early now. Our sunset is around 6:30. The time change goes into effect November 1; and it will get dark an hour earlier! :-(

Did you use powdered sinigang mix or fresh tamarind. It's what I really missed the fresh tamarind on sinampalukang manok.

I'm not a fan of cabbage but my husband and my parents and sister love it.

I love this time of year when it's dark very early. It feeds into my nocturnal soul! I get very angry by the sun. I know that sounds absurd, but it's true. I literally HATE the sun. Kind of ironic since I live in the "Sunshine State". Hahaha.
