Apparently, we're getting a dog!

It's not like I wasn't consulted but, for some reason, my opinion came at the bottom of a long list of reasons why a dog would be a good idea. It will be an excuse (more likely a reason) for daily walks which will keep 'us' fit and healthy (or so I was told). By 'us' I rather think that means 'me' - especially if it happens to be raining! I'm not averse to getting a dog but, from previous experience, I suspect that I will be the one who gets up early to let it out into our back yard and I will be the one who picks up the doggy-poo when it does its business. I only hope it leaves my roses alone - we shall see!

That depends on who has to walk it in the pouring rain!

That is why our God created a dog - for our physical well-being as well as mental. The responsibility is ours and we must own it, even if it involves disposing the poo.

@ScotMac Thanks for the story. Yes, first time I've read about the Black Schuck. If you get one, that would be exciting, The legend continues.

Apparently, you've never heard of 'The Hounds of Hell'. With my luck that's what we'll be getting
Terrifying tales of ferocious dogs have been the stuff of myth for centuries, but how have accounts of these mythical beasts spread so far and wide?

Good luck with getting a new dog. Have you decided what breed you'll be getting?

@ScotMac well, as long as you have the fewest responsibilities in taking care of he dog, I guess that is fine.

Sounds like the first dog we had when the kids were small. They wanted a Lassie (a collie). They got it against my better judgement. Guess who picked up the poo! Guess who made food for her (she did not like dog food).

@ScotMac But, onthe other hand, while the girls were listening to music, I came from work and she came to greet me and peed from happiness

@ScotMac They have good memory. Every time he would smell it just shush, gesture, and talk to him to stay away from it.

At least you were consulted. I usually just tell hubby and have a couple of times come home with a new pet and said see what I got. The last time I did that he knew I was looking at puppies. But I was looking at rat terriers and fox terriers. Tey are fairly small. I brought home a doberman mastiff mix. She weighed over 80 pounds full grown

When I said 'consulted' it was more like 'like it or lump it'

You may need to put little fences around your roses or just teach the dog to steer clear. They do have thorns so maybe the dog will learn quickly.
