Hubby's great aunt passed away and today were the services. We were able to attend the funeral home service but when we got to the cemetery only 10 people were allowed to enter for the burial. And they had to be immediate family, so hubby and I, along with many others, were not able to be there. We had to stand by the entrance the whole time. It was only after the burial was done that everyone else was allowed to go in.
This is obviously a covid restriction but it doesn't make sense to me. Riots and protests are allowed in large numbers but funerals are limited to just ten people.
And why allow everyone to be by the grave after the burial is over but not before?
It's also very upsetting because everyone wants to be there when the burial is taking place and that's not possible. And what if it's a large family? In this case, everyone definitely should be allowed to be at the burial and not just ten people.

I agree it's a restriction that doesn't make sense. Then again, a lot of the restrictions don't make sense. However, that's part of the country we live in. The government says restrictions should be lifted, but each individual business can still make their own rules. Personally, none of the restrictions are necessary.
Never-the-less, I'm so sorry for your loss.

@lovebuglena To bad you don't live down here. I physically cannot wear a mask, because I could over heat. If I don't, I might not be able to take in a deep breath. In fact, if my experience with dust masks was anything to go by, both would happen. I'm not going to put my health on the line or stay home to make someone else feel better. So, I've never worn a mask. I go shopping with my husband and go into stores. Been to the lab and doctor's office, too. No mask. No one said a word. My husband thinks part of it is because no one wants to confront the girl in the wheelchair. And, other times people just don't.... care. No one's enforcing fines. No one's ratting out their neighbors for not wearing one.... it's like we're all chill here. The only places masks are an issue for my husband, are work (obviously), McDonolds, and the VA clinic. (again, obviously it...s the v.a.)
We were worried about going into Wal-Mart because they do have greeters and they were counting customers. But, we went two weeks ago, and no mask, no problem.

Thank you! I can't stand these masks. They are not comfortable and it is hard to breathe in them. I only wear them when I go shopping or take a bus or train/subway because can't get in without it.

@kaylachan Hubby went to a store recently and forgot his mask. They would not let him in without it and he had to go home and grab his mask to go back to the store.

I agree. I also don't agree with not being able to see someone in the hospital.

@lovebuglena Yep. If someone has COVID, you can't visit them in the hospital. Only if they are dying.

Unfortunately, nothing we can do. We can complain but it will not change anything.

But it is not right. Immediate family and people close to the one that passed have to be there when the burial is taking place.

Many of the rules around Covid-19 don't seem to make much sense!
