My Son is a Big Baby.

Every night when I go to his room to check on him, he wants me to stay with him for a while and cuddle him. Every morning when I go to my son's room to wake him up, he always wants to cuddle with me. I am so cherishing this moments as I know he will grow and mature soon. I always feel that my tiredness goes away when I hug and cuddle him. He gave me energy. He is 11 years old and has mild autism. And I love him with all my heart,

Aww, that is so special and wonderful. I taught and worked with autistic children. They are so wonderful and loving.

@DianneN Oh yes, we are now can talk of the things unlike before that he bangs his head. He does not do that anymore. Though his processing of the things we talk about is not as easy as the regular person, I am glad he is being cooperative. Thank you for the offer! I will be using that just to learn more and understand more

I am sure hugging your son would drive away your tiredness. It's so nice he wants to interact with you in this way. Some autistic children don't like contact at all.

He has a very mild one I believe, a high functioning one but also he has some mild ODD (oppositional defiant disorder) but I am very fortunate that he knows he needs to follow me. I have to maintain consistency to be strict with him that really tires me at times.

Cherish their growing up years as they are not repeated. I recall my son's years with us and his likes and dislikes. Life is enriched by such memories

@rakski My son was born 14 years after our marriage. I was a bit easy on my career before he was born as my work was not going to benefit society much. Then after he was born, I wanted to spend time with him and that meant my work life and family time never encroached on each other. Like you, I also thought why go after those we leave behind anyway!

At the age of 11 years old, most children are a little insecure. When they get hugs, it helps them feel more secure.
