Went to a Birthday / Halloween party....

My old neighbour (Leanne), I don't know if many of you would remember but she is the neighbour who my dad and I would often help with her shopping (surprising her with bags and bags full of groceries) or just straight out giving her money to help her out as she struggles a lot financially.
Anyway, I was meant to do this post a lot earlier but I am far behind with a lot of things due to being busy and being sick which oh my goodness....I need to do a post about too!
On Halloween night, I went to my friend's birthday party and the theme was 1920's. I was so worried about finding all the right accessories to create the costume but I managed to do it. Her birthday was actually a few days prior but she wanted to have a mixed party. Birthday / Halloween.
It was a good night. I did talk to a few people and have some laughs but other than that I was pretty quiet which I already knew would happen. I love talking with people but I can be very shy or just full of anxiety trying to start a conversation or keep the conversation going. It sucks but I did have fun and was so happy to see and talk to my friend and her daughter. Been too long.
I realise it's hard this year but if you did do anything for Halloween, I'd love to read about it.
****photo is of me dressed in the 1920's outfit. There are photos of me showing the whole outfit but not comfortable sharing****

@VivaLaDani13 With the actual restrictions we cannot invite more than 5 people, that is fine in my opinion, I do not like to have too many guests at a time.

@LadyDuck I am glad this isn't a problem for you.
I think I'd prefer to be a guest rather than a host but for some reason I have this desire to host at least one Christmas dinner. I love the idea of decorating and cooking but I feel I might be overwhelmed at the same time. Don't know.
Do you prefer being a guest rather than a host?

@LadyDuck aww thank you Anna!
Well to be honest, the restrictions have been majorly lifted here but even before that I hardly went out anyway. But still, I agree, it's not easy staying home all the time. Sometimes I wish I had more friends to hang out with. It was a nice night though.

@VivaLaDani13 my son was just a grim reaper looking thing I think it’s called. My daughter was Bob Ross and her bf wore one of my sons old zombie kinda masks.
My son has Aspergers and gets upset easy. At one house he played a song on the guitar he was carrying then tuned it down on the way to the next house and he couldn’t get the tuning right so he got upset and said trick or treating was stupid and he wanted to quit so we left before he had a meltdown.

@shaggin They can be though, this is the very first time I've ever been to one.
Yeah being shy and quiet in any big gathering can be a bit annoying. Well to me anyway because I find it hard to interact due to my own anxiety / insecurities.
aw really! Was he a bit bored or something after 3 houses? What did your daughter, her boyfriend and your son dress as if I may ask?

@moffittjc Honestly, even if I did have it, I wouldn't show you lol But I still genuinely don't have it. That photo ( the whole body shot ) was taken by my friend with her phone. It was sent to me but I deleted it because I hated it.

@FayeHazel Thank you so very much! And yeah it was a cool idea for sure! Some dude was out of place though because he dressed up as a big bottle of tequila!
Unsure of the connection to 1920's but was funny to see!

@VivaLaDani13 All sorts of hidden cabinets and I believe some people got creative and stowed their booze inbetween floorboards, rafters, ... there were also "speakeasies" you got in with a "password" and it was a bar ... :-)

Love it - you look so cute! Did your dress have a lot of tassel thingies on it? Halloween was so different for us this year. No trick or treating for the kids (we had our own stash of candy though) and we did not even decorate the outside of the house. However, the kids dressed in costumes all day - we baked Halloween cookies - had dinner and watched a couple movies. The kids were fine with it

@much2say haha thank you so much! Nah no tassels. Thankfully I didn't have to buy a new dress. I know what type you're thinking of though. I already had a dress that had ruffles throughout it so it was sort of like a 1920's dress.
I'm so glad that you could all still have a great time even if it was different. Sounded like a great night for sure!

@VivaLaDani13 Ah ruffles - that works too (I have a couple layered ruffled shirts like that!)!
We've never missed out on Halloween, so it was definitely different. It was nice to not go anywhere though . . . a quiet Halloween!

@VivaLaDani13 I had to attende various functions with Vince through his job and invariably he'd get called off to do this, that or the other and I'd be left with no-one to talk to. I used to hate it. It was so hard to try to join with another group when you didn't know any of them.

I'm sorry that would happen. I truly sympathise with that! It really can be hard in those sorts of situations!

@JudyEv aww thank you so much Judy! I really appreciate your kind words, made me feel good.
It really can be at times. I feel good when I am able to manage talking to people but it doesn't happen often really. Still a good night though.

That's right! My friend who I went with kept on accidentally calling it "slapper" instead of "flapper."
Aww lovely! I think it's an interesting look really!

@GodServantme Thank you. No, the theme was 1920's. Native Indians do not dress this way.

@GodServantme People from the 1920's also used a headband but for an accessory.
Like I said in my post, I don't wish to do that as I am not comfortable.

@jaboUK Thank you so much.
Doesn't seem to be no. Not too long ago there were 0 cases known in all of Australia with COVID. But today I thought I read a state here had 3 new cases. The eastern side of Australia are unfortunately having more issues in controlling it. Where I live (Western Australia) seem to be going good with it. So lot of restrictions have been lifted after strict ones were in place.
Unless I am completely wrong and my friend just broke the rules.
But I don't think so.

cute costume. I didn't do anything for Halloween. A few years ago I would help my uncle out with handing out candy at his church, but they didn't have it this year.
