United States Postal Service (USPS) mail carrier Karl Herklotz used his wits to call up the Fort Thomas Police Department after he realized that one of his customers who did not pick up her mail from her box for a few days. When the local police went to the home of 84 year old woman to check up on her condition inside her home. the police found that the senior citizen suffered a broken hip four days earlier after she fell down inside of her kitchen. Thanks to Katie Giancola who is the neighbor of the senior citizen who called the police after Karl asked her to call the police to see what is going on, the senior citizen is currently recovering from her injuries. She is expected to live since the police did their duty to serve their community thanks to the alert judgement of the mail carrier who is claiming his duty and appreciates the hero label.

@Deepizzaguy My mother fell a few years ago and she was on the floor for about 6 to 7 hours. She broke her shoulder.

I agree with you since the mail carriers do not get enough love from the public.

That’s one of the things mailmen do that rarely gets credited to them: they’re in the neighborhood six days a week and they come to recognize the people on their route. They can also see when something is out of the ordinary.
