A Shout Out from Fab Jazz Band

Wow! My hubby and I were honored today for being mentioned by the Fab Jazz Band in Davao City Philippines. Fab Jazz Band went live today on Facebook and many Filipino names were mentioned, who are living all over the world.
The Pilya Blog Magazine publisher sent a message to me this morning and told me to watch the live band of Fab Jazz. That I should watch it because there would be a shout out for me and my husband on that live band show.
This was the first time that I have heard about this band and they played well. It was also the first time that my name was mentioned in between the songs. It was great. Now, I know that the owner of the travel agency where we always book our flight tickets to the Philippines came from Davao. She is the one who sponsored the live show besides the publisher of a Filipino German magazine where I am writing. Fab Jazz band will be featured in our Pilya Magazine in December.

That is a very nice surprise. I used to listen to a radio station with a friend of mine. Half of the radio program was songs and the other half was shout outs to people. It was all in Spanish, but that was at a time when I understood more Spanish. My friend and I use to call and ask for shout outs every day.
Is Davao City the capital city?

@thelme55 I bet the band gains lots of popularity by doing shout outs during their performance. I don't know if radio stations in the US still do shout outs anymore. I don't listen to the radio very often.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I think so. They will be featured in the Filipino German magazine here in Germany next month's issue. I am only listening to British online radio music as they play a lot of oldies.

Yes, it was a surprise @ScribbledAdNauseum. I didn´t even know the band until then. When I was still living in the Philippines in my teenage years, I used to hear shout outs from the local radio station that we had.
Yes, Davao City is the capital city of Davao, in the south of the Philippines. It is the city where the Pres. of the Philippines came from.

I guess that makes you an instant celebrity, how exciting! It is nice to know that lots of Filipinos are connecting even through online means. I also live outside of the Philippines now, and even though I have been here for a little over 5 years, I still get excited in meeting anyone who were originally from the Philippines.

@thelme55 I am a naturalized American, but I am a Filipino by birth. I haven't been here in the US for long, and even if I am here for years I will never forget our heritage. My parents and younger siblings still live in the Philippines so the connection will always be there.
