Why must people mess with our accomplishments?

I wrote recently about the three little library boxes that our grandson Nathan (with help from his dad and Papa) made and installed around his city for his Eagle Scout project.
They turned out great, several of the other scouts helped setting them up at local parks, and we were all very pleased.
Well, we just found out that the Parks and Recreation Dept moved one of the boxes, same park but different location because they had told Nathan he could install it there, but then they realized it was over a water main or something.
Okay, no big deal. But then they painted one of the other boxes! It was a beautiful blue and white and they painted it dark green! And didn't bother to check with Nathan after all that work.
Oh well, at least they're in the parks and hopefully people will enjoy them. My husband was really disappointed because the one they painted was the one he designed from scratch. Nathan had small brass plaques of appreciation on each box and that was the one that had my husband's name on it. (One has his late mother's name in memory of her.)
Sure hope "those" people don't decide to paint the other two boxes.

You'd think. But even the person who gave permission where to put another one obviously didn't check about the water issue.

@1creekgirl I guess the agency would have to follow certain regulations, but still . . . I wish they had a heart!!

How disappointing and frustrating. I hope your grandson continues to do good things.
Can you tell if anyone has taken/left any books?
There are lots of those little library boxes in the city near us. And even one in the tiny village here. I use them a lot.

Not sure if Nathan or his dad have checked yet. Hopefully some people are enjoying the books.

This reminds me of my disappointment too when the concrete signage in the college where I graduated my 4-year degree course in Commerce and in Education was repainted covering my name as one of the officers in the Alumni Association of the College. It has been there for several decades but they didn't value our efforts for the college as Alumni.

I followed the progress of an author on Instagram as she made and painted a little library. She made the comment that she now had her license to have one. I'm guessing in some cities/towns one needs permission to do so. I have heard of people being told to take them down. I kind of understand and kind of don't. I have seen a few around my town. There is also a book case in the hospital where you can take and leave books, and I also saw one in the dry cleaners. My daughter brings books home from the airport as they have a book case in the staff room where the books have been left behind in the airport or on planes.
I'm not sure why there would be a need for them to be a certain colour, or NOT be a certain colour except in the case where a certain colour is code for something. I think the author I mentioned at the beginning did the right thing by following a process. We shouldn't have to but it is best to check out by-laws before doing anything outside your home.
Great job for your grandson!!

There was a ton of red tape to go through and many phone calls and contacts with agencies which Nathan did. He was very particular to have approval for the whole process for which I can understand all the requirements. But after all that they still repainted one of the boxes and moved another one. I'm sure different county, local and state agencies have different rules in every state, but Nathan did his best to follow them all.

Yes, I thought it was very inconsiderate, especially after all the hard work, time, and expense.

Nathan should be proud of his accomplishments even with them moving and painting over it. I could go along with moving it but did they have to paint it too! Geesh!

I'm sorry they messed with the boxes. They shouldn't have done that.
