In 1957 Harry Belafonte had a number one hit with the Christmas song "Mary's Boy Child." This was the first Christmas song to rise to the first position in two different versions. THe second version came out in 1978 by Boney M. In 1967 The Four Season had a number one hit with "Big Girls Don't Cry." The Beach Boys had a number one song in 1966 and among my favorites "Good Vibrations." Their number one hit was on the UK singles chart. Slade got the number one spot in 1971 with his hit "Coz I Love You" also on the UK charts, In 1973 The Who slid into second place on the UK album chart with their double album Quadrophenia. This was another full-scale rock opera from the band the other being "Tommy." In 1984 Wham! scored on the UK album chart with their album Make It Big at number one and on the U.S. singles chart in third place with "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go." The Spice Girls got to number one on the UK album chart with their debut album Spice Girls. They released five singles from the album and "Wannabe" became number one in 31 countries and the following singles "Say You'll Be There" and "2 Become 1" got to the top of the charts in 53 countries, In 2007 The Eagles album Long Road Out of Eden place at number one on the US album chart,
LOVE THE BEACH BOYS and feel those GOOD VIBRATIONS.

And on this date 50 years ago, Elton John did a concert for WABC radio in New York. It would be released the next year as 11-17-70. (Leave it to the EJ fan to know that. )
Check out the new remastered version: https://youtu.be/DN2ybRONp1w 17th of November 1970 Recorded at A&R Recording Studios, New York, for a live radio broadc...

Right now I am listening to my Spotify list of favorite songs and Frank Sinatra is singing "The Girl From Ipanema" to be followed by "I Say A Little Prayer" by Dionne Warwick--of all you mention I only have songs by Belafonte and The Four Seasons on my list!

I know most of the songs you've mentioned here. I remember Mary's Boy Child being very popular and it's still sung here every Christmas.
