A surprise filled me with joy this morning - a drawing of my picture from an anonymous freelance artist. Why was my picture drawn? Well, the artist promised to draw pictures of donors who gave a minimum amount of PhP 300 for the victims of the calamities. Ain't that great! For a little amount of just three hundred pesos, I have a pretty sketch of me. Hi Hi

@eileenleyva sometimes I wonder, how people can draw and painting so beautifully.. I guess that's what we called talent.

I hope he can paint a young Eileen, the face that still lingers in my mind for more than 40 years.

@florelway In this drawing, my daughter said she looks more like a parrot than a hamster that is supposed to be her face. Ha ha.

Did you hear, the OVP received millions? WOW! That's the Filipino. We do come to aid when needed. It's a lovely drawing! Ehem.

@eileenleyva it is a lovely drawing because the source material is lovely as well. Heard about the overwhelming support the OVP got. People will help out if they trust the organization handling the funds. Can't say the same for other government agencies.

@allen0187 The nasty adversary tried to divert the attention of the people and didn't work. Realized that they attacked the woman who could be their potential downfall. As was written in Genesis: "I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” Naduwag. Ha ha ha. Oo nga pala, salamat. That's true, the original was lovely. I never dwelt on the facial features before but now I need to acknowledge the beauty bestowed on me. My blessing. And gratefulness is in the heart.

Three hundred pesos can buy five kilograms of rice which could sustain a family 'arroz sopas' for five days. So yes, that is a measly sum and we have to give more and more. The artist probably drew thousands of pictures because the donations garnered millions. The victims could probably add an egg or a caldo on their soup.

@lovinangelsinstead21 A bizarre scenario of people queuing for food all around the world. Food shortage eight months into the pandemia. Reason for the price hike. That is why we are planting our own vegetables in the backyard, at least we could have steamed or sauteed spinach to appease hunger.

@eileenleyva Food is expensive here on the whole but its enough. I saw a bit of that about the floods on the weatherforecast heart goes out to them.

I think the offer is already finished and the artists are back to volunteer packing and bringing relief goods to various baranggays.

I honestly do not know how much artists charge for a picture. The freelance artist who sketched this only offered it to donors. The donations went to the victims of the calamities. This is the artist's way of generating funds. I don't think the artist even received the PhP300.

I am not a person who constantly look at my reflection in the mirror. I do not find it necessary to do so. I am not so bothered about how I look, and during this pandemic months, I have grown my hair long and keep the strands braided. It was a surprise seeing my image in a sketch. The semblance is there, in a cartoonish way. Then I felt, I do like my reflection. Thank you.

Thank you. It's something one doesn't expect during the disaster situation. All around us are depressing scenes of wretchedness. When the picture came, I was surprised. Then there's a sense of joy that emanated from seeing a sketch of one's self. So, that is how I look from the eyes of an artist.
