Baby Box Turtle

While I was on my walk I saw a baby box turtle. I took a couple of pics, but even with cropping them it still didn't show up on here! Anyway, the little turtle was kind of hard to spot in the first place as he blended in with the surroundings. I walked to the end of the street and thought I would try another pic when I went back that way...however, he must have really booked it for a turtle and scuttled out of there. I never got another picture chance!

They really are cute. it wasn't scared of me either. I got pretty close to it.

@CarolDM Here, they come out often after a rainstorm when the roads are wet I see them alot.

They are really cool little turtles with colorful shells and bellies. Search for Eastern Box Turtle.

I love box turtles, they are so inoffensive and awesome to see:) I owned two painted turtles years back, they were darling!

I had a couple of turtles when I was a kid, when pet stores were still allowed to sell them.

I don't jnow. I don't think he was scared of me. He didn't go in his shell.
