And Just Like That.....

My back is a party animal. It goes out more frequently than I do. Sounds like a Rodney Dangerfield joke, doesn’t it? At least I know what happened this time around. Yesterday I went over to my brother’s house to meet my new fur-niece. And, like a good aunt, I sat, cross-legged, on the floor, playing with her and the other two furkids. Everything was great yesterday! Today I went shopping to pick up a few things. And just like that...... My back went out. Thankfully, I had a cart to lean against as the pain gnawed on my right hip and down into my right leg. I got home, put the stuff away, and headed straight for the lidocaine patch, Tylenol, and zero-gravity setting on my bed. That’s supposed to be good for the back, and I must say it seems to have helped a number of times when my back has messed up. So, chalk that up to having paid for itself. Speaking of “paying for itself,” after I finish my hot chocolate I’m going to go soak in my walk-in tub. Thank God I have that: I can’t imagine trying to get in and out of a conventional tub when these back flare-ups happen. Oh, and where are those muscle relaxers...... Here’s Rodney Dangerfield’s “Rappin’ Rodney,” since I mentioned him:
Rodney Dangerfield performs his hit song Rappin’ Rodney on his 1983 TV Special, “I Can’t Take It No More”. He’s joined by Andy Kaufman, Robert Urich and a st...

Hope it feels better very soon. I have thought about buying a zero gravity chair for hubby to see if it helps him.

Personally, for me, it works quite well. Of course, we’re talking about a memory foam mattress with a bed frame set in the “zero gravity” position......

@FourWalls We bought an air bed and his back is feeling better sleeping on it. So he has some relief at least.

@hardtimes1958 — I have a memory foam bed, and it’s infinitely better than my waterbed ever was.

@FourWalls But how do it do zero gravity, huh?

@BarBaraPrz — you just push the button, it’s a pre-set. You’re not floating like in space, but the concept is to have you in a position where there’s no pressure on your back. Does it work? I just know I feel better after a day lying like this.

It’s wunnerful, wunnerful (in the words of Lawrence Welk). Memory foam with an adjustable base. The remote has a “zero gravity” setting on it. And I think just eight more payments and it’s mine! Yeah, it wasn’t cheap (about $4k), but they did give me two years of free money to pay it off.

A tub like that is something many people would love to have. Glad you have what you need to feel better.

Thank you. And Rodney was too good, wasn’t he? I love watching clips of him on Carson, where poor ol’ Johnny couldn’t get a word in!

@FourWalls I loved Rodney very much. He was so so funny. I bet it was hard for Johnny not to get a word in because Rodney would not let him.

Backs seem to go out for no reason at all. They're a great pain - pun intended.

Sorry to hear about your back...but that's a pretty funny joke and for sure would be right up Dangerfield's alley.
