I love potatoes in any form but mashed potatoes are my favorite. When I had my former mother-in-law's mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving I couldn't believe how amazing they were. She gave me the recipe and I've been making them for special occasions ever since.
My family calls them "Heart Attack Mashed Potatoes" because they have butter, sour cream, AND cream cheese in them. They are actually lighter than you'd think though because you whip them after mashing and mixing everything together. They are great because you can make them a day or two ahead of time as well.
They are certainly not low calorie but they are delicious! I make them for Thanksgiving and for Easter. That's about it. The rest of the time my mashed potatoes are a bit lighter. (Lighter not light ) They are from my ex's family but now they are a tradition in my family too.

Would you give us the proportions of each ingredient? I'd love to try it.

Oh they sound really divine and so nice for the holidays.
I love mine mashed with real cream and of course Kerrygold butter and some spring onions added.

I love potatoes in any way, shape or form as long as there are no onions in them. Thanks for the recipe proportions.
