I asked my younger brother to slaughter the native hen today. The cooking is not that easy though. It will take time to make the meat soft. Regardless, it will still be a good meal for dinner tonight. Have you tried to slaughter a chicken?

I am scared. When I was younger my mother would ask me to hold the neck of the chicken as she cut the throat with a sharp knife. When the chicken started crying wiggling in pain I couldn't hold on holding the neck anymore.

My late father always asked me to hold the wings tightly and he will be the one to cut the neck. It wasn't easy though.

In my country, some locals will say that you are not a real cowboy for not butchering one.

I have never tried that nor had any to do so but I would have no problem doing it, as I am not afraid if it comes to it. How do you tenderize it?

The usual cooking style, it needs to be boiled with salt. If there is no one who can do it, I will try to take charge of slaughtering it.

I like to eat free-range chicken, the meat is like beef, thick and full, the chicken skin is also crisp, my uncle raised it in his house, a kind of Bangkok chicken

Nope, I let others do it. I can process the food, but don't ask me to slaughter it.

I have the same thing in mind. It is better to let it be killed by others.

I don't think I could personally slaughter a chicken, but growing up my dad did plenty of times. We had chickens and usually just ate their eggs, but occasionally my dad would kill a chicken for us to eat. He hated the plucking process.

I can do the plucking of the feathers, but not to slaughter it. My late father had shown me a couple of times. But I refused to help him out.

My husband has butchered turkeys and chickens. If more folks had to kill their own meat, there might be more vegetarians.

If I don't have the choice, I will try to kill one for the matter of survival.

Yes. I'm not afraid to slaughter a chicken but the part that I do not like is the dressing. Adobo is our meal for tonight. My brother in law send us a whole dressed chicken this afternoon.

No I haven't. In my religion men first, if there's no man then woman can slaughter. Your adobo looks really tempting.
