A small project for Vince

While my sister-in-law and her husband were visiting, she and I drove into Donnybrook as she wanted to visit the small dress shop we have there. We also went to the community thrift shop and Flo was able to pick up a small cupboard which she hopes will serve as a bedside table for her husband. All being well, it will be a Christmas present for him. She will measure the space when she gets home and, if it fits, Vince will sand and apply a varnish to the cupboard so it will look like new on Christmas Day.
Tomorrow, we have to bring the caravan up to the house. We’re going to a farm on Wednesday to take photos of their stud horses and also some family photos. I think the latter is the wife’s idea as she has said the husband isn’t keen on being photographed and doesn’t like being told to smile so Vince might have to come up with some good jokes.
Their farm is in the vicinity of the ancient karri that I wrote about recently. It is the 15th tallest tree in the world and is in danger of being compromised due to a proposed dam to be built in the vicinity. We’ve been promised directions on how to get there so we’re looking forward to that.

'tis a lovely cupboard 'n i sure hope such'll fit. so glad yer gonna get to go, see the farm, beautiful studs 'n hang out with the family fer a bit. some folks 're jest not fans'f havin' their pics taken. i confess to bein' one :)
've sent my letters off to the 'powers that be', hon. hopefully 'nough'll do so 'n they'll see the stupidity'n their plans. i 'wait a 'mind yer own business' email soon, lol.

It's nice to be able to do this for my sister. She can be very 'prickly' but she is the real matriarch of the family and is always helping others. They have a house guest at the moment (and his cat). The man would be homeless otherwise. He is from their church. They live in the city and are near big hospitals so any relatives with appointments usually stay with her too. So it's nice that we can do this small thing for her.

A very nice looking cupboard.Was it already varnished? I can tell it can be a good bedside table.It looks new and pricey to be honest.

I don't think it has been varnished. It hardly needs anything doing to it but it will look brand new if we sand and (re)varnish it.
