questions about homebaked cookies and expired yogurt

hi, all! so the flavored yogurt i bought a while back has already expired. i notice the timeframe is only 2 months from manufacturing date to expiration date. it still looked and smelled okay. but i did not check the taste and just disposed it. it was only a small container, single serve, so not a big waste of food. for those who would still eat/use flavored yogurt past the expiration date if it still looks, smell and taste okay, how long is your limit? 1 week? 2 weeks from expiration date? does homemade yogurt expire? sis has been selling homebaked goods. sometimes we still have extras after 6 days and give them away. i guess our taste buds are indifferent now. how do you make homebaked cookies stay soft after several days? we only have sunny and rainy season here. thanks in advance!

"for those who would still eat/use flavored yogurt past the expiration date if it still looks, smell and taste okay, how long is your limit? 1 week? 2 weeks from expiration date?" French producers used to add 1 month more of expiration date for yogurts sent to oversea territories... but the expiration date is only 1 month after the production date in France. I ate yogurts 1 week after their expired, but they would still be valid 3 weeks for you, so I cannot help. But thank you for the info.

yeah, i decided to look it up afterwards and some sites say it's still okay after 1-2 weeks.

If you put your homemade cookies in a Ziploc bag with a slice of bread, they stay softer longer.

Wow! That's a lot of questions. I don't worry about expiration dates unless I see or smell spoilage. I don't make cookies anymore, and when I did they never lasted several days, so I never had to worry about it.

@hereandthere My problem is I love to eat them. I'm tempted to make some brownie, but I know it's not good to have them around. And with Covid I know I won't have company. The governor has told us we have to stay home for Christmas and not visit anyone.

fresh homebaked cookies and cakes once a month is exciting. when it's weekly and the same flavors, not anymore.

An expired yogurt can be good even after 2 weeks, it is fermented so it keeps well. Place the cookies inside a glass jar with a lid that closes well, or inside a metal box to keep them soft for longer.

@hereandthere I recycle the commercial cookie boxes made in metal. I like to bake some cookies to serve with the morning coffee and I do not want to waste food.

I just ate one that expired a couple of weeks from the expiration date. . So far it has not affected me in some ways. But l think that the nutritional value of the food you take is starting to deteriorate already. It might not affect you physically but may not be good if you’re into it for health reasons.

Since I'm no expert in that matter, I'll probably throw it away. I am afraid I might have tummy ache if I try it.

sometimes, (with the goods my brother sends us in boxes) some items reach the date of expiry. well, as long as these are not yet opened are still sealed, we can still use them. example now is the Nestle coffee creamer that expired last month; we are using it now.
