Those forensic shows and their flashlights.

I have learned a lot watching those forensic shows on TV. They are fiction, of course. In real life, it is harder to get the bad guys. I have also learned a lot of words that might be used in real life too, like unsub and others. But what I cannot understand is the use of flashlights when there´s a radiant sunshine. And why they also use it indoors instead of turning on the lights. I would have problems if I had to get a flashlight every day. In fact, I bought 3 flashlights and have them in different parts of the house in case of big earthquakes. But usually I run to the garden, day or night, when that happens. I remember about them when everything is under control. Do you use flashlights often?

I don't think it's normal flashlight. I used to watch CSI alot. They have something like filter? I only have 1 flashlight and it's rechargeable. But I often forget where I put it. So my phone is the main flashlight.

I dont remember when is the last time I used a flashlight. In fact I don't have one at home and always forget to buy one when I go to the Supermarket. Its good to have one in emergency but I think on TV they show it only for special effects.

@marguicha I think the mobile flashlight suffices now in times of emergency.

I bought a set of 3 at the super years ago, after the last big earthquake when we did not have electricity for 3 days. I have never used them.

My phone has a built-in flashlight... and my husband always goes for the battery-powered ones we have littered around the house. Come in handy if the power goes out in the middle of the night. Other than that, not really.

The last time the power went out here was for a big earthquake in February 2010.

Wow. We've had minor outages here (a few hours), and power had been restored before Dark. In some cases, I've been without power for a week or more. That was back in the apartment living days. @marguicha

not often. but this reminds me to buy one. Maybe the use of flashlight gives them more clear view of things they need to find

I only use flashlight function in my phone. There's no real flashlight in the house either.

I have a little flashlight I use when I need to find something in a dark place or if something has fallen down and also to be able to look out on my front porch

We're a bit like you and have flashlights in the house but I'm never sure where they are.

We use flashlights when we need to read something in small print or to find something.
