Hello everyone at MyLot. This is my first discussion.
I like to visit castles, especially if they're by the seaside. Great places to go when on my holidays. I also like inland castles too though.
I often wonder how cats and dogs used to like living in a castle. I mean, they're big drafty places and I know how animals like their home comforts.
Can't believe it. I have managed to add a picture to this post. Yaay.
Anybody else here a fan of castles?

Hello and welcome to mylot. I don't like castles. There are not many around here but we have got forts along our coastline. One such fort called as fort Aguada I used to visit in my childhood. We were then under Portuguese rule and they had converted this fort into a prison. My father along with 2 of my cousins were in this prison as freedom fighters. We were allowed to visit them sometimes.

I have visited a few in Europe. Congrats on adding that photo. I just joined and was unable to accomplish adding a photo to my first post. I guess I will learn how to do it.

I believe the pets must have hung out in the stables or even the scullery. Chasing rodents, of course. Cleaning up the leftover foodstuffs.

i confess i've ne'er been to see a castle'n person. i'd a dear friend who 'twas 'lso enthralled with their beauty. went to scotland 'n ireland oft. givin' me tales 'f his 'dventures 'n sendin' beautiful pics 'f this ancient architecture.
's fer the critters? back'n those times, they knew no diff'rent.

I don't feel so much pity with the animals as I do with the people who had to live in drafty castles. No surprise that hygiene wasn't a top priority. Who likes to wash in cold water in cold bathrooms? Did they ever take a bath in winter?
Btw, Germany has an estimated 25.000 castles!

My mom used to work in the United Kingdom as a nurse in one of the hospitals .I always dreamt of living in a castle , I know your place has castle too right ? The residence of the Royal Family .

I love castles. I actually saw a lot of castles in Rajasthan, India. Some of them were called 'Mahals' though. The architecture blew my mind.
