For historical reference purposes, my parents got married 68 years ago today. I say that because this song is only slightly younger than that! But, those of you who know the song (or have heard of it) probably knew this would show up on my list of favorites with “fall” in the title. And here it is! #7: Why Do Fools Fall in Love - Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers Frankie Lymon didn’t even make it to 27 to join the infamous “27 Club” of musicians who died at the age of 27. He was only twenty five when he died of a heroin overdose in 1968. And in those 25 years, he lived six or seven lives’ worth of trouble. (He had a habit of marrying women without going through the process of divorcing the previous wife. How big-a-him. ) But let’s not think of the troubled young life and focus instead on the music. This was the first single Frankie and his group, the Teenagers, released. Combining doo-wop, R&B, and Platters-like vocals, it was an international hit. It’s still fondly remembered. The group was inducted into both the Rock and Roll and Vocal Group halls of fame, proving the influence and talent was there. If only..... I was quite young at the time of this song, I must have heard it later on. My parents got married in 1939, never divorced but both are gone now,
