Low Carb Things to Try in 2021

I have been looking up recipes for things to try in 2021 to help me with staying low carb/dirty keto all year. What's dirty keto? It's eating foods that have ketogenic macros (75% fat, 20% protein, 5% carbs) but not necessarily worrying about using the best ingredients. I want to stick to low carb as long as possible and starting out this way will help more than going strict Keto. Anyways - I found a recipe for a low carb mocha frappe ~ use heavy cream instead of milk, and sugar free chocolate syrup instead of regular (or whatever flavor you like). I also found one for Krispy Kreme Donuts that are low carb. I know they won't taste like the real thing but if they at least taste good then that is all I care about. I even found some brownies that I could make (like the ones you buy in a box at the store). No, these aren't things I will eat all the time of course...but for a treat. Well the coffee might be a little more often :) Still thinking of things to try, more dessert wise. Will make a list also later of meals that I can make to help me stick to this plan. Are you going to start a new eating plan/diet in January? Do you have any idea of things I should try (knowing I am extremely picky lol)?

I'm happy you're finding some things that still fit your eating plan and yet allow for a bit of fun too

@FayeHazel I can at least hope they will turn out good lol. The coffee should be great if I can find a good sugar free chocolate syrup!

I think the keto fudge looks pretty good. Check with Amber Lynn, I bet she has some good Keto recipes for you, and Marie might as well. I am contemplating going back to Weight Watchers in Jan. but we will see. I would actually like to do Keto..but it made my BP wacky...so I don't think it is for me.

I found a keto fudge recipe that is only 2 ingredients....that sounds good. I have talked to her, and we have discussed things back and forth on the topic. If that is what you want to do though that sounds like a good plan...I think we all need to find what works best for us. Not sure why it would mess with blood pressure - for most it gets better on low carb/keto

@MommyOfEli2013 For most yes..but I may have been eating too much salt. Not sure it happens often but is to can also drive up cholesterol although it is usually temporary..or can cause kidney damage.

@snowy22315 Well on a low carb diet you are supposed to eat more salt because you don't hold onto it like on a high carb diet. It can raise cholesterol; but if your triglycerides are good then it is okay...depends on the cholesterol size (hard to describe lol). I have never heard of it causing kidney damage; maybe if the person is eating an absurd amount of protein or something.

You sound like you found some good ideas for your low carb choices. I love sweets so anything I can have that even resembles the real thing is right up my alley

Just depends if they actually turn out good! Some things sound good, but don't always end up tasting that way - but we'll see.

I follow keto people in instagram and try their recipes. I've been doing keep since last summer and only recently lost a ton of weight mostly from staying at home to elevate my foot. It but so bad the first two weeks that I barely ate anything. Now I have to get back into my favorite meals. My favorite is a Mac an cheese but with cauliflower. It takes heavy whipping cream and cream cheese and then shredded cheese to. If you'd like to try it I can shared the recipe but it's at home. I no longer measure. I mostly pour in the ingredients. After cooking and draining the cauliflower.

@MommyOfEli2013 the cauliflower is covered with plenty of cheese. The cauliflower mashed did you make it yourself or buy it that way? I've gotten it already made up and that wasn't too bad.

That's good to hear, I follow a ton of people on Instagram too - and YouTube. That's great you have been doing it since then....and weight loss is nice; sorry about having to stay home and elevate your foot though. I haven't tried Cauli mac & cheese. Maybe I should give it a try - but I tried cauli-mashed "potatoes" and couldn't stand it. I don't really do veggies, not a fan. However, maybe if the cauliflower is covered with plenty of cheese it might be good.

@MarshaMusselman Well that is good that it would be....just not sure if I would ever be brave enough to try it lol. I tried the mashed cauliflower both ways and didn't like either.

I'm not really eating much as is, usually once a day.. max is three. But that's barely. So not sure how my eating will be next year. But not worried about it either. Going by my hunger, as well as money.

@Courtlynn Well that is good that you can do that (the not eating even though you are still hungry). Sorry for the times you are sick or stressed though, that's never fun to go through

Well some people do great on OMAD (one meal a day)...I don't think I could do that...but I should get back to 2 meals a day only. Sounds good to not worry about it too much and to go by hunger

I don't like Krispy Kreme donuts anyway, they're like eating air.

I don't know how anyone could not like Krispy Kreme donuts! The airyness to them is what makes them so good. But I like their filled ones with chocolate glaze.

I am on calorie diet. I don't count them like crazy though. I just plan and roughly calculate the amount I might need for a day. It's around 1500. But normally I try to take in around 1200-1300. Less is better. Also thanks to my work, I am walking a lot each day.

Watching the calories is good, I try to stick around 1300 or so too. Yes eating less and working out more should be a good way to lose weight, in theory.

I will give up bread, pasta, potatoes...etc again in January....I may sometimes have the "low carb breads" but going to try to not have regular bread again after the new year.
