Class Pet: 'Have you tried it?'

During my school days, I never tried to have a class pet in the classroom. I had seen only this kind of scenario in foreign movies. I assumed that some of you had experienced presenting them in front of their class. It would be nice if I would have a whisker to present it in the past. Which pet did you choose before? What class pet will you choose if have a chance? Image Credit: cdc.gov

I can't remember anyone bringing a live pet to school for show and tell. It would have been a lot of fun.

I also think that it is great to have this kind of activity in the classroom.

@Shavkat I never when growing up had a pet to show off in show and tell. If had a chance to bring a pet to show and tell now I would bring a dog because they are easier to bring.

I wish I can show off my dogs here. If my niece would have the chance, I anticipate that show will bring Shai with her.

I do not remember me having to bring my pet to school to. I think it was not a popular school activity back then and besides I do not have a pet of some sort during my grade school years so if that activity would be implemented during those times I wouldn't be able to bring one at school.

@Shavkat oh l remember back then we had those drums of different tropical fish. I might bring some of it just to present but it wasn’t my pet back then since they are my grandfather’s pet breeding them.

During my time, we never had this activity. If the schools will allow it at present, I am sure it would be fun. Perhaps if I had the chance, I was able to bring my first pet dog.

I had 3 pets in the past - a dog, a guinea pig and a bird. Our teacher once talked about arranging a "pet day" where we would be able to see eachother's pets, but he never actually arranged that type of activity. It would have been fun.

@Shavkat Yes, it would have been fun. It was a nice idea, and it is a shame that the teacher never arranged this activity. I would have loved to see all of the other pets.

What a bummer not to have this activity. I am sure that you and the other kiddies will be so proud to showcase the domestic animals.

@Porcospino I am an animal lover. I also want to see other animals that I haven't seen before.

We don't have that here. If we do, it would be a cool experience. Since my most favourite pet is a cat, I would definitely present one of my cats to the class. I think it's important to familiarize students with presenting in front of the class. They're always too shy as it's not something they would normally do. Those kind of behaviour will be continued until they're working.

In my humble opinion, whiskers need to be not agitated. Some of them are scared of being seen by people. I do agree that it is a good activity for them to express themselves about their pets.

You had me smiling with this post. Ha ha ha. I brought a hen to school in fifth grade. Hu hu hu. I won't tell you the pathetic details but suffice it to know chickens could be cause of shame.

@Shavkat I think it was a St. Francis of Assisi feast day. He is the patron saint of animals.

I am so intrigued by what had happened. Is this like a pet presentation in the class? Honestly, I don't know if I can handle a chicken as a pet, too. Perhaps I can bring a rooster instead.

I thought most kiddies in America do it. I think I can bring my dog as a class pet.

No one brought pets to school. However, there was a pet in the Kindergarten room when my kids went to school.

In high school in our biology class we had a boa constrictor. I don't know who owned it. It was really neat.

I haven't tried it. As far as I can remember, I brought my white rat in my schoolbag only.
