A simple but memorable opening of our city Festival of Lights was officially declared by the good City Mayor at the public plaza yesterday, Monday. All trees in the public plaza were illuminated by the glistening, sparkling Christmas lights All those people wearing their masks were rejoicing and shouting in glee. Those lights would be on every night till the New Year. The usual nightly Christmas presentation of the schools and other religious sectors are temporarily discontinued. Festival of Lights radiates the greatest hope among the people in the city.

I would love to spend time in a place with such a lovely and sparkling lights but with today's situation, I would probably minimize my exposure. I wish you a happy Christmas!

@nela13 Due to the pandemic, the city government keeps their budget for the festival to its minimum. No more extravagant spending

Looks festive. I wish I can go out and watch the Lantern Competition in Pampanga. But I guess, I would have to stay at home.

There are so many Festivals of Lights. I enjoy them all. I believe the Hindus celebrated their Festival of Lights (Diwali) about a month ago. Jews are currently celebrating Hanukkah, their Festival of Lights. And of course Jesus's message was for light over darkness. Here's a favorite song by a favorite musician. I listen to it often.

@Nakitakona Jesse Winchester is one of my folk idols. Have you heard my music on YouTube? I don't think I've covered a Jesse Winchester song yet.

Lights not only are fantastic to look at but as you suggest, provide a spiritual message of hope to the world.

That's really pretty. But a festival in the middle of pandemic? I don't think it's a wise step. I would choose stay at home
