Patrick Mertens who is a custodian at Kimball Elementary School in Minnesota needed a kidney transplant since one of his kidneys was failing.
Thanks to Patrick's daughter Kayla who asked for anyone on Facebook to donate a kidney to save her father's life since he had been ill with his bad kidney since 2018 found a person who could volunteer her services to donate one of her kidneys to save Patrick.
Third grade school teacher Erin Durga was the person who matched the requirements to donate her kidney to Patrick.
Erin who is a close friend of Patrick was able to donate her kidney to Patrick via an operation at a hospital in Minneapolis in the summer which was her way to give back to a person who took care of her three children at a daycare center that Patrick's wife owns where Patrick cleaned the classroom.
Patrick feels a new man after the kidney transplant from his best friend Erin who was happy to assist a family friend.
