Congress agrees on another COVID relief package

But it isn't nearly as generous as the CARES act passed in the spring. Almost 10 months later and the big assistance for individuals is a check for $600--half of what people received all that time ago. Unemployment assistance is now going to be $300--half of what people received all that time ago. Everything seems to be LESS even though so much more time has gone on. It is good that they agreed on *something* but it doesn't seem to be nearly enough for those who need the help.
Leaders in the House and Senate reached an agreement late Sunday on a $900 billion pandemic relief bill that includes enhanced unemployment benefits and direct cash payments.

Well, at least they finally did SOMETHING. You'll have another $600 toward the house! Yay!

It is nice to see the government is helping the needy people. It may not be sufficient to take care of all needs of everybody but something is always better than nothing.

We shouldn't be forced to accept, "Better than nothing."

At some point the real solution, of course, is to open things back up for regular business. We cannot buy our way out of this, and whatever they give us can never replace what we lose by remaining closed. Let's open back up for business and let the cards fall where they may. We are only prolonging the inevitable here. I will just say this is better than nothing.

It is better than nothing but it isn't enough for so many families at least in this area. $600 isn't a rent payment or mortgage payment for even one month let alone 9 or 10. I'm not a fan of letting the cards fall where they may. I don't want more people to die from this virus. I don't want more people to have long-term side effects from this virus.

@NJChicaa Even Fauci said we need herd immunity. If we can't spread this thing around we will never get rid of it. As for the amount, nobody needs the help if we open back up for business, especially considering we have shut down for what amounts to a big nothing.

@NJChicaa It is also not a big something when it is only 0.08% of the population and Spanish Flu took out 10%.
