Remembering The Funniest Gift Received for Christmas

Today, I want to talk about the funniest gift you might have received for Christmas. This might be hard for some of you but surprisingly enough, it wasn't for me. I guess I have to go back about 35 years. Our son had just gotten old enough to pick out the presents that he wanted to give everyone and hubby promised to let him choose... no matter what. His gift to me was what he called ... SILVER candles. They were supposed to be used on the table for Christmas dinner. He knew just how much I loved the color silver (and still do for that matter. ) My tree is totally white and silver this year and that year as well. *I think that I mentioned that we alternate with everything homemade or my "sophisticated" tree lol. Anyway, he was so proud as I opened his gift that year. Oh, I oohed and awed over those candles (which were not silver at all lol... but gray... and with a crack in one of them. ) They had to be years old, because they didn't even have even a bit of shine to them... just dull gray candles lol. And to this day, they always come to mind lol. There are just gifts that you never forget. And yes, they were on the table that year. ;) Now it's your turn. I want to know your funniest gift ;)

I am thinking but I cannot recall funny gifts... I remember that one year my Mom bought for me a beautiful chiffon night gown that I really loved, except the color (purple). I am sure she noticed my face and she said "they told me this is a popular color this year... but you can go there and have salmon or pink if you prefer"... of course I preferred and I exchanged two days later.

My wife and l decided not to buy each other gifts for Christmas but to buy something useful for the house. At the last minute l chickened out and bought her some lovely personal gifts. On Christmas day she was over the moon with her gifts....What had she bought me............ A shoe rack!

Every parent must have pretended to be impressed by some less-than-awe-inspiring gift at some point! I wonder where he even found such candles?

I'm sure that first time buyers fall in love with something they are just sure that mom or dad would just love lol... And they are sure to be the gift that is never forgotten!!!

Not sure how I forgot this but... my old friend from university days usually sends me completely ridiculous things, and I reciprocate. I have sent her a map of funny place names, and she has sent me a book of bad taxidermy, for example. This year I sent her a Christmas decoration - a giant fluffy white icicle with sparkly silver stars all over it. It was definitely one of the strangest decorations I had ever seen! I have yet to find what she has sent me : )

I have received what some people would regard as funny gifts - like a wheelbarrow - but they were things I wanted. The one gift that sticks in my mind was one I got from a man who I had dated a few times. Other women got jewellery or pretty things - I got a mug and a novelty pencil : ( And this was when I was living in the USA where (it seemed to me) expensive gifts were more expected than they are in the UK. I'm not the kind of person who demands luxurious gifts but still; at that point I decided he obviously didn't have much regard for me.
