So I have now taken down the holiday decorations at both my mom's place and my own place. I feel good about it. Neither of us put up so many decorations, so it wasn't a huge job, but I admit that it is a lot more fun to put up then it is to take down. I don't know, winter seems to grey and boring without the festive lights to cheer everything up. But pretty soon it will again seem normal and spring will come anyway. There used to be a great image floating around on Facebook. A magical Christmas scene with lights. That image was labeled "During Holidays" and then the same scene with the lights down, shades of grey and white labeled "After Holidays"... wish I could find it again because that is fairly accurate lol. That was nice of you to help your mom. Winter does seem boring without all the lights. We got to take our 3 month old to see lights and he loved it.

Thanks! Yeah, she insists she can do it, (and she probably can) but I think to save her some energy Oh wow, a brand new baby, first Christmas. I bet he did love that

We have packed up our tree and decorations too. I still have Christmas cards sitting on the hall bureau. They can stay there a bit longer.

AH feels good to have it done, doesn't it? The cards are nice. I like thinking about the sender each time I walk by

Girl, I still can't reach that one foot pink tree that fell behind my TV cabinet. I do have a few other Christmas decorations to put away, and I hope I get around to putting them up. I do have a few decorations that say "winter" more than Christmas, so I leave them out until March.

What? Aw no! Yknow I'm so curious to see that little tree once it gets rescued. lol. I'm with you there, I just left anything that was sort of generically "winter" out. Yeah that's fine, it can stay until spring. :-)

We don't do Christmas or lights. I can't wait for the ugly ones to come down across the street from us.

@FayeHazel Those are the ugliest things I have ever seen. Pretty lights in classy colors are my favorites.

Lol. Yeah. Usually I like the lights and decor... but some are sure homely. Like... I don't care for those giant inflatable things that people seem to put around

@DianneN Ugh. Yes. They're garish. There's a house near Momma - All the lights they have up are on a huge wreath, and then they put those "lighbulb" operated candles in the window. It's stunning in it's simplicity. Others I like are a pinetree that those people do up with strings of large colored bulbs and small colored bulbs. It's actually quite pretty

@FayeHazel I'm still trying to work up the motivation to put all my decorations away. There isn't that much at all but still.... lol that is funny. I love looking at Christmas lights / decorations. It just adds more joy and fun to the occasion.

@FayeHazel I get what you mean and that is pretty much what I did. Doing it in parts, now all is left is putting the tree away. I will eventually get to that. I think that would be amazing! White lights anywhere in a house looks so nice. My neighbour has white lights around her bedhead. They are little fairy lights and look peaceful.

@VivaLaDani13 Oh good, I'm happy to hear you're making some progress on taking down the tree. Oh I agree. I love white lights. Your friend is smart, I bet that acts like a nightlight

I know. It's just a drag to do it. Isn't it? Sometimes I break it down into little steps. Today, I will take down everything on this table... for example.... I admit, I love holiday lights :-) I might see if I can figure a way into leaving some white lights up year round

Your so right about the cheery lights of Christmas and the dreary cold gray and stormy skies of winter. And boring too as I spend much more time indoors and away from the cold. Although with the virus I've had plenty of cabin fever this year Awaiting spring flowers and bright sunny and warmer weather..

Oh so true. I don't blame you. I know people have told me to find something outside in winter that I like, but, I simply don't like being cold and wet. I hope pandemic is over soon. Spring flowers and sun help a lot

Taking down the decorations are never fun. I always took time to take down any decoration I put up. Keep postponing until I can't.

Ah I don't blame you there my friend. It's just not as much fun. And at least the longer you leave it, the more you can look at it
