Using an electric toothbrush?

Is there any advantage in using an electric toothbrush - does it clean better? Do any of you use one? My son uses one and I'm wondering if he should switch back to a regular toothbrush

I use both. My dentist recommended an electric toothbrush and I love it.

Did the dentist say why he recommended it?

They seem popular and I'm sure they'd do a great job. I keep thinking I should get one.

Haven't tried yet. Maybe worth trying if it does better than regular toothbrush.

It seems to have more complex movements and rotations of the brush parts that may be able to clean better.

I don't use electric toothbrush and never use one. But from reading the comments, I think I want to give it a try. Sound like it would clean my tooth better.

I use both manual and electric, following the instructions I received from my dentist and hygienist.

Is there a pattern on how you use both?

@pitstop I use the manual in the morning after breakfast and 20 minutes after lunch and the electric one followed by flossing in the evening before going to sleep.

My dentist is always recommending one. I don't really know if there is evidence that they clean better, may be more gentle on the gums. It took me a while to get used to using one as I didn't like the feeling of my head vibrating! Now I use it some of the time.

I too will probably not like the whirring in my mouth.

I use an electric brush and I am very satisfied. I have the impression that the teeth are cleaner, there is less deposit and calculus. My children also use electric toothbrushes and thanks to this I know that their teeth are clean.
