Our lead teacher was out the last two days before Christmas break, and has not been back yet. We now have a long term sub, but no one knows what we are doing.
It does not seem to be covid related, but that is all I know.
Just the mental effort required makes me exhausted.
I have to get ready to go now.

I am asking for them to quit changing me around. That makes me tired as well. I want to concentrate in an area I am good at and I want to see good progress.

My first step was to speak up and tell people to quit moving me around. The student I work with primarily needs a lot of personal care. Many of the paraprofessionals do not want to do diapering, and say they did not hire on for it. He also needs concentrated therapeutic type instruction that they have not been trained in. I told the "powers that be" to just leave me alone and let me work with him. For now they seem to have listened.

@JudyEv It is just that I am the one in the program who has worked with most of the students in the past so if there is a hard spot to fill they put me there.

@GardenGerty It's good that you spoke up. I would have thought consistency would be important to these kids, as in having the same carer from day to day.

It could be medical, it could be mental health associated, it could be work place politics. Our long term sub is very experiences and I have a good connection with her. I did put my foot down and voice MY preference on the tasks I am doing. Part of the "politics" aspect is one family that has targeted her and the whole school. All resources get switched constantly to focus on that student, leaving the other students to just have to go with the flow. It has been unfair for the last two to three years.

She is not responding when most people contact her, and it is not my place. No, I was not shopping, I was going to work.

OH no. The school is lucky she is available and willing to step into this mess and help us hold it together. This is the second teacher in this program who has had to resign this year. The other one was injured in a car accident. They could not find anyone to take over for him, so had this other teacher basically covering two very different types of educational programs.

I believe she has resigned. There have been some very stressful times in our program for the last three years, even before she was hired.

Personally, no, I do not want the other teacher to come back. I want the sub to continue, as she is very experienced and does well with challenges. We have a fantastic team of paraprofessionals and with good leadership we will get through this.
