I'm still talking about avocados

Whenever I've bought them I put them into the fridge until it's closer to when I wanted one and then I pull it out to ripen. Recently someone told me to leave them on the counter until they ripen and then put them into the fridge.
Today another person told me if it's done the way I've always stored them they become mushy and she believes they don't become mushy if they ripen outside the fridge. So I'm doing a test.
I bought three more. One is on the counter two in the fridge. All started out fairly hard. When the one on the counter begins ripening I may just eat that one and check the status of those in the fridge but only pull one out to ripen.
To my understanding they become mushy the longer they are left to ripen. I cannot see that it matters one way or the other whether they start in the fridge or on the counter. Any thoughts or preferences on this?
And for those that eat a lot of them how often night that be? Weekly, every other day or something else entirely?

@MarshaMusselman I tried the two ways and letting them ripe first and place later in the refrigerator is a lot better.

@LadyDuck some never put them into the fridge unless they're only eating a portion.
I took one from the fridge and am letting it ripen on the counter. I'll know in a few days if I can tell a difference.

I think you said that before. I'm sure they're grown in warmer countries, so I'm a bit surprised. But maybe only shows Spanish speaking countries.

I love avocados but have not had any in a long time, Next time I order groceries I will get some, If they are soft but not mushy I have enjoyed them in a tuna salad sandwich,

Do you put it on the bread with the tuna? Surely you don't mix it right in?

@MarshaMusselman no I don't I put the tuna on the bread and then add a couple of thin slices of avocado that is why it cannot be too mushy

@RasmaSandra I had an avocado recently sliced to with everything but the bagel seasoning sprinkled on top. It was wonderful and the first time I could eat it other than in a salad or with my eggs.

Thanks I didn't notice that typo. It sounded like avocados is a medicine.

@sol_cee it's been three days since I discussed it before.
The typo was that I missed the L in talking so it read taking. You got what I was asking even without the L

@MarshaMusselman was there a typo? I didn’t even notice. I was lolling because after how many days you’re still talking about avocados

I found one other person that puts them into the fridge like me after buying them. Many put them into the fridge once they've ripened enough when they aren't ready to use them yet.
I'm a few years I'll know how my comparison works out.

I don't eat them, but if fruit over ripens (not matter how you chose to) it does get mushy. All I can do is say is do what you feel is best.

It should be interesting to see which method of ripening works best. I don't eat avocados so I have no clue as to how to ripen them

That's what the majority seem to do also. Only a handful of us keep them in the fridge first before letting them ripen.
