Have you ever wondered how many hours there are in 24?

Yesterday morning I sent a message to a website that promised a reply within 24 hours. It is now at least 30 hours, and I'm still waiting! Frustrating isn't it? You wonder whether maybe you made an error in the email address you posted for the reply, and whether you should post a second message - so you twiddle your thumbs and carry on waiting. And then you wonder whether the website in question is all it was cracked up to be if the managers don't know what "24 hours" means. In case you're wondering - which I admit is highly unlikely - I was seeking to join a panel of poetry analysts. This is something I have done for years (on my own blog), so when I came across the website I wondered if there might be a bob or two in the offing by joining a ready-made outfit. If it turns out that they don't actually pay you to do this work, I won't bother - but I would like to know one way or the other!

You are certainly qualified. I freelance write on a site called Writer Access, they also have editors but this is not poetry that we write.

That suggests that you have come across my stuff somewhere! (For which much thanks and also for the endorsement!) I might have a look at Writer Access - it sounds interesting, given that I also write stories!

Maybe that’s 24 business hours, which can be 72 “regular” hours. We get that “7-10 business days” clarifier when ordering.

Apparently their clock is different from yours.

The hours may be based on some other planet's orbit perhaps? More seriously, COVID times, many may have lost their jobs, companies may have resorted to such measures to remain viable. The website is not updated.

This kind of thing often happens and it is annoying. Somehow I would have expected better from this sort of outfit.
