Spaghetti & Firehouses

United States
January 20, 2021 9:45am CST
Good Morning! I dozed a bit before I finally woke up and so while I know that my dreams revolved around a fire department and maybe a dog? I can't remember enough to share it here. I can say that it was a direct result of watching Chicago Fire until 1 in the morning when I went to bed. Spaghetti it's what's for dinner. But before you go inviting yourselves over, it's the low carb version of the noodles. I use shirataki spaghetti, cut it up into smaller pieces as I rinse it off (fishy smell) and then plop it into the already simmering meat sauce. What's in your meat sauce? I like changing mine up. Once I made my own meat sauce using plain canned tomato puree (I'm sorry Nonna! I don't have an Italian grandmother), my own blend of spices and it was fabulous! Of course was I able to recreate it just the same? Nope! Now I use the lowest carb sauce (at the cheapest price) which is Hunt's. I add my own spices and sometimes I use bell pepper, onion & mushroom whereas sometimes I leave one or more of those out. Today it's just going to be bell pepper & onion. So... What's on your dinner table?

On my dinner table it will be steak with blue cheese sauce and mashed potatoes I think... unless I decide to make "bulgur" as side dish instead of mashed.

@LadyDuck I do not think I could make this with my new low carb lifestyle. Low carb eating works very well for me. I feel so much better but I still need to work to my weight loss goal. I like couscous.

@thislittlepennyearns With the keto diet, I have to either make my own bread or buy the low carb bread from aldi's. I've made some really delicious cheddar bay biscuits though.

Yum! I hope you enjoy it. I don't eat meatballs very often. We rarely had it growing up so I rarely do it now.

I love that show Chicago Fire. I dreamed something about pizza but don't remember the details. My dinner tonight is meatloaf, mashed potatoes and roasted cauliflower.

Yum! Enjoy! I love a good meatloaf. I'm on the fifth season maybe? I'm not quite sure which season I am on but the house has just found out about Chilly's sister and Hermann just helped get the kid who stabbed him a reduced sentence.

@Marilynda1225 It was only a month ago that I was really introduced to it. My brother in law was watching it when I was at their house ready to petsit.

Your dinner last night sounds delicious. I bet it was very warming too! Oh, you won't share the secret ingredient? Is it a pinch of sugar?

I tried making spaghetti using ground pork sausage once but I did not like it. When I say spaghetti I mean the noodles, the meat and the marinara sauce. I hope you enjoyed your meal.
