Congratulations! You made it through the country mess! I didn’t intentionally design it that way, but this part of the countdown of “heart” songs leading up to Valentine’s Day is in alphabetical order. To celebrate, here’s today’s definitely NOT country song. Heart of Glass - Blondie New wave things come to those who wait! What can I say. (No, that’s a Boz Scaggs song. ) Blondie’s breakthrough hit. A #1 smash. Something that had people going, “This is punk?” Something that, over 40 years later, still sounds great. I never thought of 1979 as a great music year (and technically, this song predates 1979: it was one of the first songs Debbie Harry wrote for the band), but dang this is a great tune! Heard this on the car radio yesterday coming to Hamilton. Apparently Miley Cyrus has a cover of it? (The DJs daughter told him she really liked it so he set her straight.)

Most genres whether you like them or not produce a catchy tune that you just can't ignore. The 80's brought a definite stylistic change from those previous decades. Thank goodness new wave groups like Blondie allowed me to experience something quite a bit different from my 60's-70's comfort zone. A true gem with this hearty tune

Oh good a song I know. Heart of Glass. Blondie. It does still sound great even after 40 years. I bet the surviving Beatles wished they still sounded as good But they just don't and never did. So there Paul.
