Surprise, surprise, surprise! (In best Gomer Pyle voice) While yesterday’s use of a Hank Williams tune was no shock at all, this one might make you wonder if my account’s been hacked.
Nope. As Duke Ellington said, there’s only two kinds of music: good and bad. Since this is on the list, I chalk it up as “good.”
Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart - Judy Garland
AND, to prove that music has no expiration date, this song was first performed by Judy Garland in 1938. My parents were in grammar school (not together, of course
) in 1938!
From there, it became one of her signature tunes, and may have been the song she is best remembered for, had she not been in that dang tornado movie in 1939.
Enjoy a classic tune by a classic singer.
Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart
Written by James F. Hanley
Recorded by Judy Garland
Released as a single, 1939
(Re-recorded numerous times)
Something inside of me started a symphony:
