Disaster in Northern India? I hope my friends' families there are OK. / myLot

I woke up to this on one of my news feeds this morning: "As many as 170 people were missing, with dozens potentially dead, after a breaking Himalayan glacier caused waters to rise, sweeping away a hydroelectric dam in a deadly torrent that flooded downstream villages in northern India. As terrifying videos of the sudden deluge hit social media, environmental experts argued that the Indian government should halt hydroelectric projects in the volatile ecosystem. (Sources: Guardian, AAP, CNN)" I hope my Indian friends and their families are OK. Of course that includes my friends on MyLot and my neighbor friends here. Do have thoughts on whether hydroelectric projects in Northern India should stop during this time? I hadn't realized that calving glaciers were an issue in the Himalayas

@FourWalls He is revengeful. Not a drop of humanity in him. Sigh..Evil grin. By the way, he is like that Home Alone 3 kid. He resembles that kid somewhat. So hard to think of him as old. I don't know if I am allowed to use his pictures without his permission. But I have attached it anyway.

I have read yesterday in our local newspapers. The problem of the glaciers is serious also here in Switzerland... because global warming is a myth.

@TheHorse Exactly, I have heard someone else saying it's an hoax. But the glaciers on the Matterhorn are also melting.

These people need to watch Jurassic Park (or any of those bad 50s B movies that usually ended up in Mystery Science Theater 3000) and learn NOT to mess with nature!!!!

Vanny has checked in an is OK. She's from the South. I hope some of our other Indian friend check in. I also have to ask the father of Horse Jr.'s 6-year-old buddy where his family is from. I didn't talk to him yesterday.
