My Love Of Brass Bands

I have long been a fanatic for brass band and marching band music. If a parade goes by I have been so fixated on the bands that friends have just ended up abandoning me because I have been so entranced. Not surprisingly one of my favoute films is Brassed Off, as it centres on a Brass Band, one made up of a coal mining town mining community facing redundancy as the Thatcher Government shut the pits (an event that really happened) In the scene here, a new performer, the main female love interest auditions for the band with a stunning performance of Rodrigo's Concierto d'Aranjuez (jokingly referred to as Orange Juice). Like much of the film I adore it. Arthur Chappell
Scene featuring the late great Pete Postlethwaite, Tara Fitzgerald and Ewan McGregor...Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez never sounded better!

I like listening to bands somewhat but I get bored with parades. Is rather sit at home than watch all the floats and we live close enough to where they go that we can hear the music quite a ways.

There are some great unexpected street performances such as this flashmob performance of Sing Sing Sing
British Army musicians entertained unsuspecting passersby with a flashmob performance in Birmingham's Chamberlain Square. The 60 professionals, from both Reg...

Your brought back memories of my college band which performed at halftime of football games. Here's a link to their performance. Gives me goose bumps every time!

wow, that is stunning choreography - I do like it when the bands break the traditional static or marching positions - this one, performing the theme from Rocky has a conductor dressed in character conducting in Boxing Gloves

@dgobucks226 Another I like is this unexpected live action switch in Thunderbirds Are Go - the film, like the TV series was a puppet show but switching to the real band that provided the fantastic theme march was a touch of genius - additional joy in the credits acknowledging made up characters before admitting they don't exist
A truly fantastic audio score by composer Barry Gray for the Thunderbirds theme. Performed by HM British Royal Marine Band for the end credits of the 1966 fi...
