Well, winter has arrived in full-force in many parts of the country inspiring me to come up with a music trivia quiz with a stormy weather theme. Whether its tune titles about hurricanes, thunderstorms, or cold temperatures, there's one thing these songs will all have in common, they will encourage you to stay indoors. So let's take a look at our first set of stormy weather tunes... When I hear there's a snow "storm coming" I stay inside where it's warm and safe. And Bob Dylan must of had the same idea in his song called "Shelter From The Storm." Dylan could sure tell a story in his songs. Just listen to those lyrics and enjoy! Now, let's see what "storm tracks" await our solving. Whodunnit? 1. Bob Dylan was born in a cold weather state which gets some brutal winters. The first letter of the state begins with the letter "M." Any guesses? No harm in trying, 2. This "storm" titled song was the last one this artist recorded with his band. He went to France and died a few weeks later. The single was released in June 1971, shortly before his death. A Fender Rhodes electric piano was used to create the effect of rain in the tune. At the end of this track, there are sound effects of thunder, and the faint voice of the singer whispering, the song's title. The group's singer died from heart failure at the age of 27. This band gained national attention with their performance of "Light My Fire" on the Ed Sullivan Show. Controversy ensued when the band's singer disregarded the producer's request to change the lyric "higher" in the song. -Do you know the name of this artist's "LA Band" and their "stormy-titled" tune? Interesting fact: other artists who died at the same age as this group's singer are Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones. 3. This 1960's group used a "Roman Numeral" at the end of their name because at that time there were "4 members" in the band. The group had success in the late 60's scoring chart success with "classic" hits "Spooky" and "Traces." This trivia song is really not about bad weather but an emotional request for a moody girl to return to the cheerful self she was when the couple first met. The final line of the song's chorus has the singer pleading to the girl to: "Bring back that sunny day." -Do you know the name of this classic rock group and their bad weather tune? Fun fact: some of the members of this band left and formed the group the Atlanta Rhythm Section which had a popular hit with the song "Imaginary Lover." Ok, "let's weather the storm" and come up with those song and artist answers. Remember, a storm theme is part of the song title. If your stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. Or as Dionne Warwick might say in song, "That What Friends Are For." Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! Eddie Rabbitt's rainy song is a real good one too I used that one on my favorite rainy song trivia quiz. Excellent job.. those answers are "waterproof." Jim Morrison of The Doors sure had many storms he could not overcome in his life
