With just ten spots on the list some bands had to get left off. Don’t think, however, these are the only ten bands with more than one lead singer. Here’s a band that didn’t make the final cut....which is why the “bonus” feature is for.
Bonus #1: The Cars
And I promise you, it was quite difficult to leave these guys off! Those first two albums were just magical. (NOT “Magic,” that didn’t come along until 1984’s Heartbeat City.
)
I have not-all-that-fond memories of listening to those first two Cars album in the recreation room in my barracks in Jacksonville, hunkered down while Hurricane David roared outside. There are better memories of those albums, for certain, but their jumping, new wave danceable tunes were quite soothing for an uncertain day.
Most people know Ric Ocasek as the lead singer of The Cars, but Benjamin Orr did his fair share of lead vocals as well. In fact, it was Orr who did vocals on what is their biggest chart hit, 1984’s ballad “Drive.”
Benjamin Orr died of pancreatic cancer in 2000 at the age of 53, and Ric Ocasek died at the age of 75 in 2019. As the vocalists for The Cars, they gave us some of the best post-punk music of the late 70s and early 80s.

HQ very rare promo music video. "Let's Go" was the first single from The Cars' album Candy-O released in 1979. It was written by Ric Ocasek and features lead...
