Sea cucumbers anyone?

We just watched a hunting reality show and the guys went diving for sea cucumbers. I had never seen those before. They looked like fat red cucumbers with spiky things all over. The guys cut out the white meat, then cut it into strips, floured them and fried them in hot oil. They looked really yummy. The hunters said the sea cucumbers tasted like a cross between scallops and calamari. Have you eaten sea cucumbers? What did you think?

I think some people cook and eat them whole. I couldn't do that. But I'd like to try the fried strips. Oh, and I read that the smooth black ones are poisonous.

I had sea cucumbers years ago in Seattle, the taste is bland, I like a lot more the taste of scallops and calamari.

I think they are gross. I would try it if I didn't know what I was eating!

There's no way I would eat the outside, but I'd try the fried strips.
