A few weeks ago I mailed in my DNA sample to Ancestry.com and just got the results. I'm 55% England and northwestern Europe, 31% Scotland, and five other regions including Ireland. I knew my father's side is Dutch and German, and my mother's side is English. I'm searching now to see any relatives I didn't know about. Have you ever tried this?

Thanks! It might yield some surprises. I'd like to find a half brother that I've searched for but never found.

By Vicki, #1 Creek Girl @1creekgirl I was looking for relatives here and a friend on Facebook could not help me find family here in Israel but helped find out information about the family I knew about. I could not find the information after a while so just remembered some. I know that my father and his family were born in Bessarabia which was moldavia and that my mother's parents were from the Ukraine. My grandmother came to Minneapolis because she had family already there. She and her family went to England before they went to Minneapolis. I am glad you got your results.

I have never tried, but I want to try and I want to send to separate laboratories... just to see how accurate they can be.

That's a good idea to check separate companies.

@1creekgirl I have watched an interesting documentary about people who had their DNA test. Triplet sisters all asked to the same company (using fake names and address) and they got totally different results, that is clearly impossible as they were triplets.

So you didn't get much from your father's side? I've never done anything like that.

It's really easy, but to get a lot of the results, you have to subscribe and pay.

My sister did this. I would say no big surprised with the possible exception of some eastern European, but not narrowed done to a country..and it wasn"t in the last 200 years

It was interesting to see where my ancestors came from and I got a long list of possible relatives, but a lot of it you have to pay a subscription fee.
