Calling All Resourceful MyLotters

I know you are out there. Very resourceful MyLotters. And I need your help. I was looking at my pantry situation, and I am finding I am losing track of what the heck I have. I used to have a better memory perhaps. I will blame aging. I am at the point now where I am at the store and I think I need to get tomato paste, only to find I have four cans, have bought four more, but needed diced tomatoes and am almost out. Is there an 'inventory' spreadsheet or something I can use? Or maybe a website that helps one to track the inventory in their pantry? I mean, there seems to be something for everything else. Why not this? Any ideas? Any suggestions? I really need some help with this.

Go to you pantry. Open text messaging and text yourself a list of your needs. Go to store, answer your phone, lol.

There is software, of course, but good old pen and paper would do. I would probably prepare an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of things. I'm very anal.

@porwest It's easy to learn. They have videos for that.

@LindaOHio It is probably way less complicated than I have ever made it out to be. You are probably right. Probably tons of videos on YouTube about how to use it. I should watch some of those instead of watching people slip on icy sidewalks. lol

I usually do the same. But I am beginning to have more of something I don't need and less of something I do. I still stock up on anything when there are sales. But I am just needing something to be a bit more organized about it.

You can always start an Excel file and update the inventory there. That's the easiest thing. Unless you wanna be fancy and start a database in MS Access. But you can just do it the old fashioned way and use pen and paper. No matter what method you choose though the inventory numbers will not update themselves. If that's what you wanted I can't help you there. Now your post kinda reminds of the times when I go to the store for salt, for example, and I leave the store with everything but the salt.

There are many options out there. Depends on how detailed you want to get. If you have an iPhone, there is an app called Pantry Check. Here is one of many resources out there. Excel is another option.

Take a photo of your pantry before going out to buy your grocery items.

I once made an exell sheet on what I needed and then, before going to the super, I checked it and made my list. Now I´m lazy and I buy like you do
