Doesn't that just sound great especially for people who are feeling lonely? It is the creation of the Japanese government that now they have a Minister of Loneliness. The ideas was started by Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and the role is being filled by Tetusushi Sakamoto. The position is to help fight against the rise in suicides, especially during the pandemic. The figures are terribly high with 20,919 Japanese taking their own lives in 2020. The Minister of Loneliness is hoping to promote activities to help prevent both loneliness and social isolation.
Most suicides have been by young women and people which is tragic in itself. It was discovered that women suffered more from isolation than men did and this reason started the trend in taking thier own lives. One young woman said that not seeing people smile behind their masks made her very sad. So hopefully the new Minister of Loneliness wil find a way to reach out to everyone and stop the deadly trend of suicide in Japan.

Long back ago, I stumble upon hikikomori among the young Japanese citizen video on youtube. This is serious issues among the young generation. I am hoping the Japanese country will get good results

Harakiri is embedded in the Japanese culture. In many ways, even in this modern age, and especially with netflix offering ways to take one's own life, it's no surprise lonely people would resort to such despicable action.

I am surprised that individuals need such help when they themselves could look for activities to ward off loneliness. Activity is companionship

It is funny in a way that Political figures, and religious figures, can both be called ministers.
A minister should be someone who ministers to others.
Let's hope that this new minister does just that.
