100 years ago today : Shaving off the income

United States

This was borrowed from The Iron County news. [volume] (Hurley, Wis.) 1913-1950, March 12, 1921, Image 1 Found on ChroniclingAmerica.Loc.Gov I don't have much to say about this. It's certainly clever and definitely fitting. The thought bubble above the man looking in the mirror says Gosh nothing but the roots left

Interesting... There's a reason I always have extra held out of my paychecks. I don't want to come up short when I file my income tax. (I had to pay in one year and it almost killed me finding the money to pay it in... Now, I just have an extra $7 held our for Federal taxes and $5 extra held out for State. At least I know I'll always get some of it back.)

I do the same thing. I had to owe Oregon state three years ago and I never want to do that again.

@noni1959 Do you ever have people tell you that you're "loaning" the government the money and not getting interest on it? People here did that to me... I told them it's my money so I can loan it to anyone I want. At least with loaning it to the government I get part of it back.

@DaddyEvil No. I tell them I like having a fire dept, police dept, roads paved and all the things those who complain use too. I don't like how our Gov is saying she wants to tax the stimulus. That will be a hardship for some.

True and it's easier to digest that way.

A very smart comic. I know taxes help pay for social programs, for the roadways etc, but I think sometimes too much money is taken out of our pockets here in the US

In real life, some people are still in denial about losing hair.

Very true. Of course now there are procedures to help them grow their hair back again.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I wonder if that's why I haven't gotten a stimulus check yet, because I haven't filed yet this year.

@spiderdust You might want to look into that? I don't actually know because I am not eligible.

For some Americans, unfortunately, this is very true. Good cartoon.

Yes, very true even today. Some just barely scrape by and tax time isn't a happy time for them.
