I think our papaya tree is close to falling down. Perhaps its height reaches at its peak as the trunk is getting thinner going up. There are still fruits nearing 20 of varied size above which I think adding more weight hard for the tree to carry on. I'm thinking of harvesting the fruits even if they're still raw and just cut the tree before it will fall down by itself but I decided to leave it there for some time. I hope that by tying it with tie wire to a more solid foundation would hold and support til the end. It's now back to its straight position.

Try to support the tree, it is a shame to lose all those papayas.

@ZedSmart This should work, at least until the papayas are ready to be picked up.

I tied it with wire and the other end is at the steel rod near the roof.

@LadyDuck I think I will pick those little bigger papaya to remove excess weight. It would be ready for pickling.

Oh, l guess after you harvested its fruit you might consider it trimmed down and maybe plant a new one to replace it. It can become a hazard to your place if that one topples on someone or something.

That's my biggest concern. It could be a source of accident. I already planted two where it grown but so far only one is surviving. I hope that it will grow once the old one will die or cut down soon.

@ZedSmart Good thing we have no strong rains or storms coming around else it may easily topple when strong winds come.

Lots of fruit, hopefully the tree can still withstand the load.

Hope the support will help the tree. Such a shame if you have to cut it down.

You can prop the tree. Can;t you? If that is not possible and you have decided to harvest those papayas you can still retrieve the tree by chopping off the top and putting a plastic cover on the top so that water does not get inside the step It will get new leaves.

I didn't know that it is possible to grow it again but that is a good suggestion. Thank you. I can find a new small leaves sprouting at the middle. Maybe I could cut it there but I'm not sure if the roots would still able to hold. Let me see.

Papaya tree trunk is actually not that strong and they Can bear huge and heavy fruit that can sometimes be too much for the tree.

That is true. Unfortunately it bears more fruits now compare to the time that it's not so high yet.

Will it damage anything if it does fall over?

I suspect it will hit the electric wire few distance away depending where the direction of the fall goes.

You can make papaya pickles from the green papaya just in case you have to harvest them unripe.

When it's not that tall yet, it only bore 6-8 per stage but now it's close to 20.
