Who hasn’t read this book or heard of this story? My mom used to read me books and even sing me songs when i was a kid. Before i started first grade, my father had to get me a tutor since i had difficulty reading. But once i learnt how to read, my mother couldn’t stop me from asking for more and more books all the time. I even saved my own school allowance just to buy myself a book. The library was my resting place in between classes. I’d rather stay in the library than be in the classroom. Just feeling nostalgic because of this frog who decided to visit my garden tonight. Any childhood memories you cherish?

I enjoyed reading but preferred playing outside with my friends as a child. I cherish all of the moments with my Mom.

@CarolDM Oh yes the encyclopedias. We had that too and it was very useful with our school paper. We didn’t have to go to the library for that like other kids did coz we had the encyclopedias at home.

I played a lot outside when I was a child but when I couldn't go out coz it's too hot, you'll see me holding a book.

This is a cute frog, big eyes. I hear the frogs in the night, they are reaching our pond as every year. I remember my mother reading for my brother and I when we were very young. I always loved books, my brother a lot less.

My father was a big book reader. I remember that every after lunch, he would get his book and go somewhere to read. Not in our house but out somewhere. I would see him in park benches reading a book and then taking a nap after. This discussion has a part 2!

@toniganzon My father was also an avid book reader. He always had a book with him no matter where we went, as he had a free moment he read his book. I am going to find the part 2.

I’ve never seen a movie that was exactly like the book. I hated hide and seek. I played a lot outdoors too but avoided hide and seek.

I remember coming home all filthy from playing with friends but I played with boys most of the times. My father doubted my gender preference back then. He would even talk to me about it but he didn't sound like he was mad if I didn't turn out to be a girl. He sounded like it was a fun thing that I might be gay.

@allen0187 Yes and even if i was gay, i knew my father would be ok with it. He might even have loved it. Coz i take after him. i have two brothers, they’re characters and personalities are not the same as my father. But me? I am so much like him in so many ways.

Many. And about the princess and the frog, I had only read the book until I took my grandchildren to watch Walt Disney´s version. I had fun with a New Orleans in Mardi Grass and I cried over some terrible scenes.

You sound like me. The library was my go to place to read books and comics stalls in the market was my go to place to read Tagalog magazines and comics when I was a child. I have read that book you mentioned above when I was in elementary grade. I have also saved my allowance to buy books.

You remind me of my mom. She prefers Tagalog comics. I was never a fan of Tagalog comics, it was Archie comics for me back then. My mom had a hefty collection of Tagalog comics.

@thelme55 I am ilonggo. Just never find joy in reading any Tagalog except Noli me Tangere and el Filibusterismo. Not even into Filipino movies except a few.

I loved reading as a child and cherished my books. I did not like having my cousins from out of town visit and go through my bookcase pulling out books and putting marks in them. I have always had a big appreciation for books! Apparently their mother didn't read to them and instill the care of books!

@toniganzon My mother loved to read. I think these cousins didn't have the opportunity to have many books at home so when they saw them they went nuts. I used to go through them after they left and repair/page torn pages. When I got a couple of years older I simply put certain books away and out of sight when they visited.

Oh! that's awful. Fortunately, my cousins never touched any of my books. Though they weren't fond of reading, they simply didn't care about books. My father was a big book reader. I guess that's why we have so much respect for books.

I never liked reading books and I always find boring sitting in the library. I used to play outside . I was addicted of playing table tennis.

My father said that the cheapest way to travel is by reading books. I loved playing outside but I was hungry for knowledge that the books could give me.

Mine was Lion King. Before the movie came out I was addicted to reading the book. And I had neighbor kids come over and played with me because i was not allowed to visit and play on their house.

I was a voracious reader as a youngster. I remember sitting on the porch reading a book in the middle of a summer afternoon, the cicadas making their noises in the trees...I also worked at the library when I was 14. I cherish those memories. Good times.
