Just got an email that the school our high school senior attends will be reopening on the 1st. I don't have all of the details yet, but it looks like it's only going to be 4 days a week and only for half days. He's very happy about this, especially since he'll be able to meet with his mentor about his projects and to have a somewhat "normal" last bit of the school year, maybe even with a regular high school graduation! I should get him some more masks and a pocket hand sanitizer and some wipes. What else seems to be crucial school supplies in these days of COVID?

Great news! Should of happened much sooner. The video learning has really put the kids way behind academically. And your son will be able to enjoy social interaction safely with classmates a big part of senior year. A real shame this manufactured disease caused such harm to everyone all over the world.

I'm not sure that I'm willing to call it a manufactured disease, but it is a shame that the disease caused so much harm.

@spiderdust Yes, varying opinions on where it came from according to talking heads. My view is I doubt if it came form a bat as some say.

@dgobucks226 The people who claim it came from an animal and not a lab have more education and expertise in that area than you or I do. I think they're more qualified to speak on the subject than "talking heads".

I've heard that the schools for the younger kids may start opening around the end of April and the beginning of May, so I was surprised that this one was opening so early. Then again, he goes to a smaller college prep charter school in a different district than his siblings, so maybe I was only hearing about our home school district prior to now.

@spiderdust I've done some subbing at three different preschools recently. So some littlies are on-site.

Glad to hear things are slowly moving along, Perhaps this link might help.
Parents, teachers and administrators shared their insights about which supplies would be most helpful to the greatest number of kids given the current reality of pandemic-era education in America. Here are the top suggestions.

So am I. Even the kids are surprised at how much they've missed in-person school.

That's a good news. We have Easter holiday vacation for 2 weeks and so no school.

@thelme55 I suppose it gave them a couple of days to readjust before diving back into school full time.

Yes, they just went on vacation today! 2 days of school and then a break. I wonder why the school didn't wait until after the spring break to start in-person classes?

I know where I can get some faceshields. They aren't required here, but may give some additional protection and peace of mind.

I also gave my brother lunch box complete with drink so he didn't need to go to the canteen or anywhere else. Then it's less likely he'll mingle.

Absolutely, that is great news. Our schools in my town have been open since September. But some schools in CT haven't gone fully back into live classrooms. I drove through Wesleyan Univerity Campus today and there were masked students walking around in a very normal way.

Back here schools resumed in January. The kids were excited especially after loosing a whole year out of school. Last year the government tried to introduce various ways to support education sector to continue, but it was not possible due to the various dynamics involved. So literally last year kids didn't learn. So this year they introduced a crush program to recover the lost time. Most schools have closed now for the easter holidays.
