Here I am again

I could have slept in, but I woke up at 4. It was not even the cats that did it.
The problem is that we did not eat a really good meal last night. Dessert and snacks. Oh, and when I tried to go back to sleep, hubby was snoring.
I was too tired/relaxed last night to put up a post. I think the shot in my knee is helpful.
The doctor said that at first it is just going to be the lidocaine working on the pain and it will take 24 to 48 hours for the steroid to kick in. I am pleased so far, though. I am doing other self care measures that complement the treatment.
I am using the Voltaren or diclenofec topical gel. Not even the maximum dose. It seems to work fast. I am also drinking vegetable juice blend (generic V8) which was recommended by a previous doctor.
So, if last night and this morning are any indication, I am doing well.
I almost feel guilty taking a sick day, but it is mine to take, so I am. I am feeling like I may have a good weekend.
I do not want to spend my day sitting, and I will not but I will be back again from time to time.

We were up around the same time this morning.
I woke with my neck and shoulders throbbing.
I took a nasty tumble at work a couple of years ago and was in physiotherapy for months afterwards, but I do not think that it has really fully healed. There are days, damp days mostly, when they ache like I just fell yesterday. Today began like that. I was able to return to bed for a couple of hours of sleep.
Getting old is no fun at all for me.

Does your doctor give you any helpful suggestions about your neck? I remember you falling. When it is my neck and shoulders I put on a "rice sack". I fill an old tube sock with cheap rice, stitch the top shut. I heat it in the microwave for about two minutes and wrap it around my neck and shoulders.

@Juliaacv You can easily make that rice pack. Add some lavender essential oil, it is very soothing.

@GardenGerty To be honest with you, I do not ask.
The telephone appointments seem so quick and he sticks to a tight agenda during the call.

@just4him I think so. It is low carb but it is high in minerals like magnesium. Magnesium is a natural muscle relaxer.

I am enjoying having less pain and more energy for that reason.

So far, so good, right? And if you're allowed sick days, may as well use one now and then, wouldn't want anyone to think you're superhuman.

I just felt bad that they had a hard time covering the little bit of time on the bus.

Actually the knee itself did not feel bad, it sent massive muscle spasms all the way from the arch of my foot to my hip, though!

Some people have good luck with the shots, but I have known that others did not. It has been 24 hours, so we will see how things go when I go back to work Monday.

It is supposed to last anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months.
