Last year, I bought my roommate a new coffee maker, that she has kept in the kitchen cupboard this whole while. Yesterday, I just happened to see the coffee maker in the trash. How would you feel?

I'd be infuriated. I feel like some people just like the idea that they can discard things and people and show they don't care that you do anything for them.

I would certainly wonder why she kept in in the cupboard, then threw it out, rather than seeing if someone else might want it. But, if I had an otherwise good relationship with her, I would not press the issue, no matter how much I might hurt.

I would be more angry at the fact that the roommate had thrown away a perfectly good coffee maker. If I gift someone something, frankly I could care less if they want it or ever use it. But at least donate it for cripe's sake.
