Most people have heard of the Merriam Webster dictionary, which has been in existence for many years. There is a website of the same name and I really enjoy it! I receive updates from them via email, which include the word of the day. The link takes you to the word for today, March 31. It has a very short audio lesson. On that page you will see the many other options available on Merriam-Webster.com, including games, articles about currently trending words, word history, etc. I just wanted to share this great resource with all of you.

I still have my Merriam Webster dictionary not far from me. I use Internet, but sometimes I like to check the old good dictionaries. Thanks for the link.

@BloggerDi I have always been fascinated by dictionaries. I often check the words on my (very) old Latin dictionary when I have doubts about what I read online about the origin of some words.

Increasing the vocabulary is really cool. But I am already old and contented with Wordscapes. Bookworm was my favorite but it's no longer in my laptop. Back in my day, no one could beat me in Boggle or Scrabble. Words are super exciting.

That sounds great @BloggerDi What do you have to do with the word of the day? Do you have to repeat it over and over, or just use it cleverly in a sentence?

@BloggerDi Anything? Cool, I like a free rein. Every day is a school day. I think I have forgotten more words than I remember now. Sadly

Thanks @Orson_Kart. You can do anything you want to with it! At the very least, perhaps you can say you learned a new word. Sometimes for me, it's a word I'd heard before, but was unsure of its meaning.
