Spring Breakers Got Hail Storms in Florida

Lots of spring breakers along the southern coastline the days. Especially in Florida. And yesterday they received a surprise hail storm in Panama City Beach. A cluster of severe storms swept across Southern states early Saturday, destroying buildings in the Florida Panhandle and dropping large hail on a coastal Alabama city. In Panama City Beach, Florida, a home and convenience store were leveled by a possible tornado, city officials reported. A resident’s photo posted by The Panama City News Herald shows the store’s roof and walls ripped away, but its counters, shelves and the merchandise they held appear untouched. There were no immediate reports of injuries. Images shared by news outlets showed car windshields shattered by hail about as large as baseballs in Orange Beach, Alabama. Storms also brought heavy rain and strong winds to parts of Louisiana and Mississippi. Some flooding was reported. Several thousand customers lost power overnight, according to a utility tracking website. These storms can come up without any notice. A very dangerous time. I hope everyone stays safe.

@RebeccasFarm And nobody is immune to these storms. I would not want to be close to the water.

@CarolDM It's been years since we've had a really bad storm here. I hope we don't have any for years to come.

I do not miss it at all. I hope they are safe too. Other states had storms, MS and AL.

I am really sorry, we enjoyed to stay a couple of weeks in Panama City beach, not during Spring breaks, it was a month of February... we got snow one morning.

@CarolDM When we went in February it was very quiet. We had never visited that area and from there we wanted to visit also Alabama and other narrowing states. We had a good time there.

@LadyDuck That is a great time to visit. The coast is nice, I prefer if I go, to visit in the winter.

I would never go this time of year, or any other time either. Not my cup of tea. Glad nobody was injured... this time.

Our niece and fiancé just went there last week for work. They are a little close towards the Alabama state line but I am sure they got some bad storms where they are. This is why I'm not as much of a fan of spring because of all the dangerous storms.

Wow! The south certainly has had its challenges lately. We were watching webcam footage from several points around Key West last night; and there was constant lightning out over the ocean. Checked the radar; and there was a strong thunderstorm right offshore. It gave quite a light show.
