New Computer: Up And Running

And away we go. I waited until I was more awake this morning to get my new computer set up, and wanted to get some coffee in me as well. So, I fired up the old computer and waited for the battery to run out of juice before setting up the new one. It is now set up and up and running, and while it may take me a bit to get used to it, I like it so far. It is clean and crisp. My old one was an HP. This one is a Dell. This one does have a smaller screen, but I think I can easily get used to that as well. Before you know it I probably won't even notice it IS a smaller screen. Onward and upward.

I have two Dells and have been quite happy with them. My laptop is starting to slow down; but I think I need to clear out my caches. Have fun with your new purchase! I think I'd miss my 17" screen.

@porwest You pay quite a premium for that larger screen too. Well, I hope you have good luck with this computer.

@porwest With the technology so old, computers should be affordable for everyone. I realize that the technology is always evolving; but so is the TV technology; and you can get a real bargain on a TV.

@LindaOHio You do. And I was actually a bit taken aback by some of the prices of some that I looked at. You'd think it would become something like TVs. Nowadays you can buy a 70" for about $300. But computers can still be very expensive depending on what you want.

I have always had an HP Laptop. My very first desktop was a Dell and I had nothing but problems with it. I wish you well though my friend. Enjoy!!!

@porwest Right. My Dell that I had, was pure junk and I was constantly on the phone with their technicians etc. MY HP's have issues at times but not often but they are still alive and kicking. I will never buy anything from Dell again.

My Dell is 13". I still think it's pretty huge as I want to carry it around in my bag.

Congratulations! I switch so much between my phone and my iPad that I’m used to varying degrees of “small screens.” I don’t know what to do on my MacBook anymore.

I spend hardly any time on my phone at all. Just way too cumbersome for me. lol. The bigger the better for me... Unless it is my phone. Speaking of that, I saw someone using a tablet the other day to make a call. It looked like she had a television up to her ear.

My desktop is really getting old (a Dell, I think), but it's been a good one. Enjoy your new one!

So far I like it. Going to take me some time to transfer a lot of my old files. But I will just have to make time to do it.

Enjoy your new toy. What will you do with the old laptop? Is it beyond repair or did you simply upgrade?

Technically, my computer is something like 13-14 years old. I've changed some parts, though. Power supply, twice, graphics cards, twice, monitors, CD/DVD drive, motherboard, twice, CPU, twice, memory, twice, CCD added then upgraded, keyboard and mouse and power cable.
